Basement Area Project Description:
- We will perform the work during normal business hours or off hours, whatever is more convenient for GPO.
- We will occupy the area under the garage with damaged concrete for the entire duration of the project. Once we commence work, only SanDow personnel and authorized Government personnel who are wearing the proper PPE will be allowed to enter the contained area under the garage.
- We will construct a containment using metal studs and 6-mil poly.
- We will install a 3-stage decontamination facility consisting of a dirty room, shower, and clean room for ingress and egress.
- We will HEPA vacuum any lead debris and then place 2 layers of 6-mil poly on the floor.
- We will install negative air machines in the area to scrub the air of any lead particles.
- We will remove all lead paint from the concrete ceiling and beam encasements through the process of grinding and chipping down the concrete a half inch. The grinders will be attached to a HEPA vacuum so that most of the lead and concrete debris will be picked up by the HEPA vacuum; any debris that falls to the poly-covered floor will be picked up and stored along with the contents of the HEPA vacuums in DOT-17H drums for disposal.
- After we remove all the lead paint, we will encapsulate the entire area.
- We will have the contents of each DOT-17H drum analyzed through the TCLP process to determine if we will need to dispose of the contents as hazardous.
- Once we have the TCLP results back, we will either dispose of the wastes as hazardous at an EPA-approved landfill or as regular waste.
